Draft of the Declaration of Independance Writing

Students who choose the English Writing Specialization lay a foundation for continuing work in bachelor’s and advanced degrees in Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Education, Research, Literary Studies, and other English related fields.

What is more, a strong background in writing can be the underpinning for fields such as law, history, language studies, library sciences, and publishing. Students in the Writing Specialization explore creative forms such as fiction, personal narrative, screenwriting, drama, and poetry. In addition, students can acquire skills in journalism, technical, and critical writing. The English faculty at Northwest is diverse with a range of publication experience and offers students the opportunity for individualized instruction.

English: Writing Specialization, a two year program of study that prepares students for transfer as English, English Education, or Creative Writing majors. In order to achieve an Associate of Arts degree with a Specialization in Writing, students must successfully complete core courses in conjunction with required classes for graduation from NWC. Students planning to transfer to a four-year program may need to have additional courses in order to transfer as juniors. These students should consult, as early as possible, with their advisors and examine the catalogs of colleges which they are considering for transfer.
