Exercise class

The Health Education Department at NWC provides a wide variety of courses for students interested in a career in some aspect of the health field--public and community health, personal trainers, aerobic instructors, dieticians, health and physical educators, nursing, athletic training, and sports medicine. Most Health Education courses carry the HLED prefix.

Program specific outcomes: The Department of Health and Physical Education has four learning outcomes which are directly related to class experience. The expectation is that one or more of the outcomes are addressed in each of our courses.

The learning outcomes are as follows:

  1. Design and use a healthy lifestyle management plan.
  2. Apply knowledge of growth, development, learning theory, and movement principles to program development and lesson planning.
  3. Administer various assessments including Fitness, Strength, Motor and Academia.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of basic instructional strategies for athletic coaching.
